Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you feel a bit unbalanced and NEED some music to keep you on the ground, but you have no idea what to put on because you are tired of listening to the same 4 songs on repeat for the past two weeks?
Are you fed up with your local radio stations which play nothing but your local music and local news (which are the least of your interests at the moment)?
Yes, sure, Spotify, Youtube, and the other platforms can help and find you the perfect playlist according to your own taste, but if your occurring neurosis kicks in and makes you feel so tired of yourself and your consistency, well, you’re at the right place.
Here you go, a few radio stations from all over the world, depending on your present will to live! Thank me later.
Soho Radio London — This one is for all of those that are pretty aware of their disordered mind states from which there is hardly an escape most times, but hey — at least you have a refined taste of music! The tone of this radio will make you feel understood, maybe cool, even though everyone around you says you are relatively close to clinical depression.
Fip — If you feel a bit disassociated with your national identity, (or at least, want to) this would be the right pick. The most popular radio from France, makes you dream and float on clouds far, far away from where you are. The styles vary from groove to electronic, but I’d recommend the more traditional ones. I’d put this in the category of very little will to live. Unless you’re living in stunning France. Then, f* you and be grateful you son of a b*tch.
BarcelonaCityFM — Want to connect with that “Español vibe”? I’d recommend you skip this whole article. JK, even though this radio does not play much Spanish music, it does have the fun and playful touch of their culture with some up-beat techno and dance. If you want to ease up your melancholy today, that’s your guy! I mean, link. Whatever.
Balamii — Well, well, well… If it’s not one of my favorite anti-neurosis picks. For all those introverts, spiritual dreamers, who at night turn into extroverted and explosive personalities with a high probability of functional depression — this is the one for you. This radio offers some of the UK’s underground music along with some pieces from newbies — mixed so well, you’ll forget all about your inner disturbance. What I personally like about it, no matter if it’s jazz, house, hip hop or all of it, you always feel the same vibe, which can be super comforting.
triple j — If you are at the stage where you completely lost the touch of your reality, maybe it’s best to listen to some convenient music. This is the top Australian radio which makes it the perfect choice if you are tired of the top 40 playlist playing in all H&Ms and most likely your gym. Plus, you’ll hear some soothing Australian accent here and there.
KEXP — To be honest, I have no idea what to expect on this one. At one point, they play some Indian flavored mix with unnecessary instruments and at another — Kendrick Lamar. I guess I could say it’s mostly alternative, predominately new music? Similar to your BPD tendencies. The difference (& a good thing) is — they have a schedule on their site! And, there is always a pleasant voice enlightening the listeners with news related the music they play.
KCRW — This one has few different locations, therefore, if you are pretty tired of listening how much your country sucks, and want to listen some shitty news from other countries to make you feel better (or informed, whatever you need to tell yourself) — JACKPOT! They do play some music, sometimes. I think.
Amazing Radio — If you are in the neurotic level of the average teenager, no other option for you than this one. Alternative music ONLY. Look at the design and you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’d categorize this one in the strong deficit of will to live radios.
NTS — If you are pretty aware of your state, this is the perfect pick. If you know what you want and where your mood is at, you’ll for sure find the right mix to support it. It might take you a while digging through the million options from different artists, but when you find it you’d for sure be feeling coalescence.
Worldwide FM — Jokes aside, this one is my personal favorite. It supports marginalized societies and oppressed communities from all over the world, plays tributes more than any other radio, and shows a variety of uniqueness. And believe me when I say it — they play the best of the best, and know how to play it. No matter your state of being, but especially if you are in a pretty shitty existential crisis, you’ll always feel better being a part of this support.
Side note: I apologize if I overwhelmed you with options and contributed to your anxious indecisiveness. However, it was the best of my intention to suit the taste of all those wide-ranging characters out there, while putting it in a somewhat humorous frame. Don´t let my comments limit their value, so be sure to check them out yourself!
